The company will buy the coal from the domestic market, he said, adding that the last date for submission of bids is Aug 19.

The Bhubaneswar-headquartered NALCO is India’s third largest producer of aluminium. It produces about 1,080 megawatts power at its captive power units that feeds its smelter also located in Angul, about 160 km from here, to produce aluminium.

Nalco which has nine power units of 120 megawatts each, is likely to commission its tenth unit of 120 megawatts in the end of August.

The official said the company has been already buying 50 percent of the coal it required for the ninth unit which was commissioned last year, while the rest is being met by coal provided by Mahanadi Coal Fields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of state-run Coal India.

He said the company is buying coal as its requirement would be more when it commissions the tenth unit.

Nalco has produced 4.31 lakh tonnes of aluminium in 2009-10. After commissioning of the tenth power unit, Nalco aims to produce full installed capacity of 4.60 tonnes of aluminum at its smelter.

‘Madhya Pradesh is striving hard to get over the power crisis with several coal-fired under-construction projects, including the 1,200 MW Malwa thermal power project, set to be commissioned by 2013-14,’ a senior energy department official told IANS.

He added that the state will add 724 MW power in 2010-11, 1,295.5 MW in 2011-12, 1,911.5 MW in 2012-13 and 1,555 MW in 2013-14.

Madhya Pradesh has an installed power capacity of 3,847.5 MW, including hydropower capacity of some 915 MW.

The state faces around 1,200 MW power shortfall that goes up to 1,500 MW during peak hours.

Michael Blakey’s battered body was found in November 2006 pinned beneath boulders in a shallow stream running through an old British cemetery here. His autopsy reports confirmed he was bludgeoned to death.

‘We are now going to seek the help of Interpol for extradition of the prime murder suspect Pawan Bhardwaj from Scotland,’ Director General of Police D.S. Manhas told IANS.

He said Bhardwaj, the husband of Blakey’s colleague Rachel Owen, migrated to Scotland from here immediately after the crime and his interrogation was crucial.

‘We admit there were a number of loopholes during the initial stage of investigation. But now to tie up the loose ends, interrogation of Bhardwaj is a must. For this, we are seeking his deportation,’ Manhas said.

In an interview with the BBC after IANS carried a report titled ‘Interrogation into Briton murder case restarted’ dated July 18, the victim’s father Paul Blakey said: ‘None has been convicted over his death but reports in India suggest police are reinterviewing people.’

Police here have restarted the interrogation of people who were associated with Blakey during his stay in this town.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dinesh Sharma, who is investigating the case, said: ‘We have again interrogated more than 20 people, including family members of Bhardwaj, who came in contact with Blakey. Our investigation still points a finger at Bhardwaj, who is the prime suspect,’ he said.

He was arrested a few days after the murder and questioned for several days but was later released without charge. He then migrated to Scotland along with his wife.

‘We are seeking his (Bhardwaj’s) deportation,’ Sharma said.

The victim’s father Paul told the BBC that he just wanted a conclusion to the case. ‘His killer is still at large and I hate the word closure but I wish some sort of conclusion could be drawn with these investigations,’ he said.

‘It’s quite distressing that these (reports on) investigations keep appearing (but) to no avail – there is no result to any of them.’

Almost four years after his son’s killing, Paul now relies on Indian press reports for any information on the investigation.

‘The case is closed in England so I appreciate there is nothing from the English side, but other than that, that’s all the information we get,’ Paul said.

Asked whether he believed police would ever capture the killer, he added: ‘I think the stable door has been shut long after the horse has bolted. All the trails have gone cold, I very much doubt (they will be found).’

The state police are investigating two possible motives for the murder. The first reason could be that Bhardwaj was jealous of his wife’s friendship with Blakey. The second could be that Blakey might have uncovered some financial chicanery in the charity, perhaps involving Bhardwaj.

Britain requested Indian authorities in July last year to help trace the killer.

Sharma said both autopsy reports – one conducted here and the second in Britain – cited the same reasons for the death: extensive head injuries and strangulation.

Blakey visited the hill town in 2004 and formed the Tong-Len charity with a friend.

Between 2004 and 2006, Blakey and Owen visited Britain many times to generate funds for the charity.

Bhardwaj met Owen in a small tea shop belonging to his uncle in October 2005 and they fell in love. They married in a traditional Hindu ceremony in July 2006.

On Nov 26, 2006, Blakey suddenly went missing from the monastery where he was staying. His body was found in the graveyard two days after his disappearance. It was sent to his family in Britain after post-mortem.

Ever since ‘Twilight’ hit theatres in 2008 the series has become the most successful vampire franchisee ever. The reason is its target audience – female teenagers. Among the three films so far, ‘Eclipse’ has the most for teenage girls to swoon over.

Right at the beginning of ‘Eclipse’, Edward asks Bella, ‘Marry me’ while Bella replies with ‘change me’. This sets the mood for the film, which finds Bella at a crossroad where she has to make a decision that will alter the rest of her life.

And aiding her confusion are confessions of vampires about how life as a vampire sucks, the growing love of Jacob for her, her own love for both the men in her life and of course, her own doubts about the right decision.

However, while Bella is caught between the two lovers in her life, someone is raising an army of newborn vampires. And amidst this fight between vampires, a love triangle unfolds, as two lovers fight this enemy for the sake of the same woman each loves.

‘Eclipse’ has enough elements for the target teenage girl audience to swoon over – a topless Jacob, a father having the uncomfortable ‘sex’ conversation with his daughter, two hot men fighting for one woman while she conveniently vacillates between the two, the two lovers having a war of words, and some cheesy moments that cause the two men to become jealous.

Considering that most often it is females who make the decisions about which movies to watch even for their boyfriends and spouses, and also because of its successful predecessors, the stupendous success of ‘Eclipse’ is literally guaranteed.

David Slade was a good choice to direct this latest offering. While Pattinson was the hot favourite of the ladies in the previous instalments, it is Taylor Lautner, playing Jacob with a muscular body and cute, lovable mannerisms, who steals everyone’s attention and sympathies as the jilted, but never-say-die lover.

Some might find the film excessively broody, with more conversation than action. Yet, ‘Eclipse’ has more action and special effects than its predecessors and if the ending is anything to go by, more is guaranteed in the filming of the final novel, which is being done in two parts.

Around 400 staff in Southampton City Council’s children’s services department received a memo telling them they should dress respectfully and ‘carefully consider their work attire’, the Daily Mail reported.

Council bosses said in the memo that women wearing mini-skirts could be sent home, while men have been advised to wear ‘collared or polo shirts, cotton trousers such as khakis or chinos with a belt’.

Women can wear trousers, informal dresses or skirts of ‘reasonable’ length, but ‘not mini-skirts’.

‘Please try to dress smartly and thoughtfully, in line with other professionals you come across in your day-to-day work, and in a way that shows respect to children and families,’ it said.

Women, however, have threatened to fight the ban, as one of them said: ‘Are they going to come around with a tape measure?’

‘I would have thought the council has got better things to do than impose a regimented approach to what people wear,’ said Mike Tucker, secretary of a union.

The incident took place Friday in Bakna Khurd village in Surguja district, some 380 km from state capital Raipur.

The man, Suman Ram, entered the government primary school brandishing a ‘basula’ at around 11 a.m. and started chasing students.

‘All the students fled, but Nohar, the only son of Gaya Prasad, was caught by Suman. The man repeatedly hit the six-year-old on his neck and body. He died on the spot. After the murder, the accused tried to run away but was caught and later handed over to the police,’ Madhulika Singh, a police officer probing the murder case, told IANS over phone from Ambikapur, headquarters of Surguja.

‘Nohar’s family has no enmity with Suman Ram. Dozens of students who were witness to the tragic incident are shaken,’ the officer said.

Suman is being interrogated to find out the reason for the attack, she said.

The four killed in firing by security forces were identified as Muhammad Ahsan Ganai and Showkat Ahmad Wagay, who died in Amargarh in Sopore town, and Adil Sheikh and Nazir Ahmad Mir, who were killed in north Kashmir Pattan town when mobs torched the police station there Friday afternoon.

Over 50 people, including protesters and security men, were injured in violence across the Kashmir Valley Friday.

Fresh violence erupted Saturday morning when a mob attacked a police camp in Kreeri village of Baramulla and despite repeated warning shots in the air, they continued throwing rocks and stones at the policemen inside.

‘Three people, including two women protesters and a boy, suffered gunshot injuries in this incident. All the three have been shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment,’ a police official said here.

Attending doctors at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura (SKIMS) described the condition of the injured boy as very critical.

Over 10,000 mourners, meanwhile, offered funeral prayers of two civilians – Muhammad Ahsan Ganai and Showkat Ahmad Wagay – killed in firing by security forces in Sopore Friday.

After their burial, the mob again attacked the Sopore railway station, torching another building and a fire tender that had reached the spot to douse the blaze.

Protesters have also blocked the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway at Delina near Baramulla town, disallowing any vehicular movement.

Stone-pelting mobs also engaged security forces in Baramulla town where police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel used batons and tear gas to quell the unruly crowd.

Another mob blocked the Jammu-Srinagar national highway at Borsu village in south Kashmir Pulwama district, pelting stones at vehicles passing by.

Slogan shouting protesters also erected stone barricades at Zakura on the Srinagar-Ladakh national highway.

In Sumbal town of north Kashmir Bandipora district, protesters pelted stones at a camp of the local armed police, who fired in the air to disperse them.

Contingents of security forces are patrolling various Old City and uptown areas in Srinagar, enforcing the indefinite curfew announced in order to prevent protests by violent mobs.

The valley has been virtually paralysed due to violent protests against civilians being killed in firing by security forces since June 11.

The body of Revti Singh, wife of Hukum Singh, was found in the morning in the legislator’s residence in the posh Gandhi Colony in Nai Basti area, some 350 km from Lucknow.

Hukum Singh, a senior BJP leader represents Kairana assembly seat in Muzaffarnagar.

Police have ruled out theft or robbery behind the murder as valuables and cash were found intact inside the house.

‘Preliminary investigation indicates Revti Singh was strangulated to death,’ Deputy Superintendent of Police Akash Kulehri told reporters in Muzaffarnagar.

‘We are yet establish the motive behind the crime. Teams have been constituted to nab those behind the murder,’ he added.

According to police, only servants were present inside the house when Revti Singh was murdered.

‘At that time, there were only a few servants in the house. The BJP leader was also not present. The MLA, who was in Lucknow, has been informed,’ police inspector Jagdeesh Singh said.
